Paragraph writing depends, as stated already, on thinking and writing. This thinking must be systematic and singular. The thought in a paragraph or paragraphs is single or one. There is, thus, the unity of thought, as the first requirement in paragraph writing.
But this thought has to be expressed properly. This requires the orderly treatment of the thought by means of arguments and illustrations. The sequence or order in the treatmnent of the thought is the second requirement in paragraph writing. Lastly, the expression of the thought requires precision, clarity. variety and correctness. In short, the felicity in expression is the third or last requirement in paragraph writing
The question of the length of the paragraph may be important here. A good paragraph, however, is a unit of thought, not of any limit of length. Naturally, a paragraph may be brief or quite lengthy. What is necessary is the proper unity of thought.

How to write a Paragraph
In writing one or more than one paragraph on a topic, picture, problem, chart, or diagram, we need to follow these points.
i) The subject or topic is to be introduced with a general statement. This is to be attractive, but relevant to the subject or topic.
(ii) As stated already, the theme is to be developed in a proper order or sequence. Illustrations may be given, if possible or necessary.
iii) When specific instructions are given, these are to be carefully followed. The paragraph is to be written on the basis of such instructions.
(iv) An appropriate conclusion is to be drawn. This may be a sentence in case of a single paragraph. But if several paragraphs are written, a short paragraph may be written at the end for this purpose.
v) The whole composition may be in any suitable manner. It is to be plain, clear and convincing enough. The students may use the words or expressions of their own choice.
vi) They need not even use the words, given in the chart, diagram, or information supplied.
Kinds of Paragraphs
Paragraphs are of three kinds-(a) Descriptive (b) Narrative and c) Reflective.
(a) A descriptive paragraph is one that describes a certain person, thing, or event. This is by means of a series of descriptive details. Such details together form and create the whole picture.
(b) In a narrative paragraph, the author narrates what happened on a certain occasion.
