Introduction
Schools have a hostel for students as well as teachers who belong to some places which are far away from their school. As it is very difficult for the students and teachers of distant regions to attend school in time from their residence, the importance of school hostel increases.
Our school also has such a hostel with a long one-storied building of twenty rooms open on all sides. One of those rooms is preserved for the superintendent, three are for teachers and the others are for students. A separate section is for the kitchen land the menials.
Description
Hostel life is no doubt a place with strict and regulated life for the dwellers. Teachers are always there to keep up the rules and regulations which help to build up characters of students.
Daily routine
At five in the morning when bell rings, we have to get up at once, ease ourselves and wash our faces. Then we have to take a short tiffin and be ready to study for about two hours very attentively. The next two or three hours we devote to our studies under the supervision of the resident teachers. They go round our rooms and help us through our difficulties. Our school hour starts at 10.30. So we have to be ready having a bath and a meal in the dinning room.
In the afternoon we play joyfully forgetting all the problems and hardles and difficulties. We also have some physical exercises under the supervision of some of our Physical Instructors. In the evening we return to the hostel. The afternoon session refreshes our mind and body and now we wash ourselves and sit down at our studies. Our supper comes at about 9 p.m. after which we retire to bed.
How you feel there
This is day to day hostel life with little and occasional variations ; sharp eyes of the authority does not provide a little space to indulge in any undesirable activity. Sometimes I feel sick for home yearning for the loving touch of my parents ånd others and for the comforts of home.
But as time has passed on, responsibility removes all those passionate thoughts and I have begun to feel at home here. There is no want of friendship here. We are thirty boarders who live like a family with the teachers as guardians. If anyone falls ill, the hostel doctor comes in and the fellow-boarders give him all the care and attention he may require.
