THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE

Once in a forest a hare always laughed at a tortoise for it’s slow pace. He always made fun of him. But that broke the tortoise’s power of endurance. So, one day, he said to the hare, “I have become tired of your boasting. I may be slow but I am steady. Let us get on with a race.”

The hare accepted the race with a smile. He was sure of winning the race. The race was on one fine morning. The hare ran fast. He was much ahead of the tortoise. But he stopped after some time in the middle of their track to wait for the tortoise to come along. He waited long and lay down to rest as he had the false confidence that the tortoise would take a long time to reach there. He soon fell asleep.

But the tortoise moved on and on steadily without pause. He passed the sleeping hare and neared the goal. The hare suddenly woke up and saw the tortoise ahead of him. He started running as fast as he could. But he was too late to save the race. The tortoise had touched the line.

MORAL: SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE

THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE

Once in a dense forest, a hare and tortoise lived in peace and amity. They were good friends. The tortoise was relatively slower of the two. The hare on the other, was quick-footed. The hare was very proud that he could run speedily. For this, occasionally he made fun of the slow-paced tortoise. The tortoise one day said to the hare with utmost modesty, “Don’t get boastful of your speed, my friend. Remember, pride brings downfall”. He failed to digest the humiliation done to him off and on and one day challenged him to a race competition. The hare accepted the challenge and the race competition was about to take place.

On the slated day race began. With lightning speed the hare sped away. Quite naturally his contender, the tortoise lagged far behind. He failed to keep pace with the hare. After some time, the proud hare looked behind but found no trace of his friend. He was over-confident that he must be rewarded for victory and his friend could not touch him. So Seeing some shadowy place by the road the hare thought of taking some rest. He thought, “I can rest awhile here.” He lay down there and was soon fast asleep.

The tortoise, on the other never stopped. He crossed his competitor delved in deep Sleep under a big tree by the tack. In the mean time, the hare woke up. Finding the tortoise nowhere he proceeded towards the target but was dumb-founded to see his compatriot taking rest there. The tortoise was adjudged the winner.

Moral: Slow but steady wins the race.

Story writing of Tortoise and Hare

A hare and a tortoise lived in a place. The hare off and on mocked him for his remarkable slow pace. Failing to digest it one day the tortoise told the hare, “Don’t be too boastful of your speed, my brother. Remember, pride goeth before a fall.” This enraged the hare and
he immediately challenged the apparently slower creature to a race competition. The tortoise agreed and they fixed a date for it.

On the slated day the race began. As expected, the hare ran fast and the tortoise failed to keep pace with him. After crossing some distance the hare turned back and saw his contender to lag far behind. He thought of taking some rest under the shadowy trees by the road. He lay
flat there and soon fell fast asleep. The tortoise, on the other hand, was walking non-stop with his usual slow pace. In the course of the walk he crossed his competitor and delved in deep sleep by the track. Slowly but steadily the tortoise went on until he reached the finishing point. In the meantime the hare woke up. He looked behind and found no trace of his compatriot anywhere. With lightning pace he ran but it was too late. He found to his utter surprise that the tortoise was already taking rest there. The tortoise was declared the winner.

Moral : Slow but steady wins the race.
